If your printer is printing faded texts, the answer is straight.
“The printer is running low on ink”
Think of it like writing with a pen — when the ink in your pen begins to run out, the writing fades and becomes harder to read.
Just like you would replace the pen or refill the ink, replace your printer’s ink cartridge or refill the ink and the problem will go away.
Here’s my article on how to check the ink levels on your printer to help you with that.
But what if the ink levels are good and you are still getting faded texts in your printouts?
Print in High Quality Setting
Printing in low quality is another reason your printer starts printing faded texts.
What you can do is,
- Windows Settings > Printers & Scanners > Choose the printer.
- Go to the Printing Preferences.
- And select Best/High in Print Quality.
Some printers also allow you to enable/disable the Ink saver mode. Check and if available, make sure you disable it.
Meanwhile, also keep in mind that your printer will start printing slow if you print in best quality.
Note: You cannot access Printing preferences without having a driver. So, make sure you have installed printer driver on your computer.
Choose the Correct Paper Type
I see many users doing this mistake.
“Having one type of paper inserted in the printer and choosing another type of paper in the Printing Preferences”
When this happens, the printer cannot use appropriate mechanism to spray the ink that differs from paper to paper type.
To sort this out, go to the Paper Type drop-down in the Printing Preferences and choose it correctly.
Clean the Printhead
Printhead is a major component of an inkjet printer that sprays ink.
If the tiny holes (nozzles) on this component get clogged, ink cannot get correctly onto the paper and you get faded texts.
Run a printhead cleaning cycle and it should fix the problem. You can do it from the Printing Preferences.
Well, that’s all about fixing printer printing faded texts.
