There are three methods you can use to reset any HP printer.
- Using the printer’s touch panel.
- Using the Embedded Web Server / Webpage of the printer.
- Via HP Smart.
All these methods are easy but I find the touch screen method quite easy. Regardless, let’s see the exact steps for all these methods.
Using Touch Screen
For touch-enabled printers,
- Open Settings from the home screen.
- Navigate to the Maintenance menu.
- Choose the Restore option.
- Click Continue/Yes whatever your printer prompts you and it will reset your HP printer to factory defaults.
Using the Printer’s Webpage
To reset your HP printer with this method, first, make sure it has an active Wi-Fi connection. Then, find printer’s IP address. Once you have the IP,
- Open the IP in any web browser.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Select Restore Defaults and click Restore Factory Defaults option under it.
- Again, click the Restore Factory Defaults button and you are done.
Via HP Smart
This method is for you if your printer is not connected to a Wi-Fi network. Or say, if you don’t have its IP.
- Connect your printer to your computer with the provided USB cable.
- Install HP Smart app from the HP official website.
- Open the app and click Printer Settings on the home screen.
- Then, select Advanced settings.
- You’ll now see the same interface as you saw in the previous method.
- Go to Settings > Restore Defaults > Restore Factory Defaults and you are done.
Note: If you are having problems, Google “How to reset your HP printer name” and follow the HP official guide.
