Using AirPrint is the easiest way to print from your iPhone to HP printer.
If the printer is not AirPrint compatible, you have to use HP Smart though.
Let’s see the detailed steps for both the methods.
Using AirPrint
First of all, make sure your HP printer and iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
If your router is broadcasting dual band Wi-Fi signals; 2.4GHz and 5GHz, connect both devices to the same band.
Since most HP printers only support 2.4GHz band, connecting both the devices to this band is best. Then,
- Open a document or image whatever you are trying to print on your iPhone.
- Tap the Share icon on your iPhone’s screen.
- Choose Print and select Printer on next screen.
- Select your HP printer name.
- Do note that if your HP printer name does not appear here, or if the iPhone shows No AirPrint printers found error, the printer is not equipped with AirPrint.
- In that case, you have to use another app for printing that I will discuss later.
- For now, if your printer is listed, select it.
- Make any changes to the print settings, if necessary.
- Finally, click Print and your printer will start printing.
Using the HP Smart App
As I discussed already, a printer without AirPrint cannot print from iPhone directly.
In that case, go to App store and download the HP Smart app. Once you install it,
- Open the app.
- Tap the Set up or add printer icon on the app screen.
- Go with the Complete Now option.
- All the printers available on that Wi-Fi network will be listed there. Choose your desired HP printer.
- Now go with the Print Photos or Print Documents option, whatever you are planning to print.
- Sign up or Sign in with the HP account.
- Once you do it, open the photo/document and click the three horizontal dots icon.
- Choose the Edit option and make necessary changes.
- Tap the Print Preview button to know what your printout would look like.
- On the next page, specify the number of copies you are willing to print, paper size and so on.
- Finally, click the Print button.
That’s all. These are the two standard ways to print from iPhone to HP printer.
