Before you start to print anything on your HP printer, changing the paper size is strictly necessary.
You must select the exact size of the paper that you inserted in the paper tray in the paper size settings.
Or else, you will encounter errors like:
- Printer printing blank pages.
- Paper Size Mismatch error.
- Printer alignment issues.
- E2 error.
- Or, printer says out of paper despite having papers.
So, what are the ways to change the paper size on your HP printer? Let’s learn.
Use the Printing Preferences Settings
I believe you already have a printer driver installed on your computer. If not, first, download and install the printer driver.
Otherwise you can’t access the Printing Preferences. Once you are done with it,
- Open Windows Settings and navigate to the Printer Settings.
- Select the printer whose paper size you want to change. In this case, I will choose HP.
- Go with the Printing Preferences option.
- Now look after the Paper/Quality settings in the new window that opens next.
- Expand the Paper Size drop-down and select the size appropriately.
- You can also set custom paper size.
- You just have to click Custom and specify the height and width of the paper.
Through HP Smart App
You can also change paper size on HP printer using the HP Smart app.
However, do note that the paper size settings changed from HP Smart only works while printing from HP Smart.
So, if you are not the one who uses HP Smart for printing, this may not be the viable option for you.
The earlier method that used Printing Preferences will do the job.
Regardless, let’s see the steps for HP Smart:
- Open the app and click the Printer Settings menu on the home screen.
- Click Advanced Settings under Settings.
- It will open up a webpage in your browser.
- Choose Settings from the top and click Preferences > Tray and Paper Management.
- Select your required paper size and click Apply.
For Touch Screen Printers
If you have a touch screen printer, no need to do anything that we discussed earlier.
The printer will show you a dialog box to change paper size settings, as soon as you place papers in the tray.
Easy-peasy, right?😁
Well, that’s all for today.
